Why I Sponsored a WordCamp I Will Not Attend
ShifteQ is a sponsor of WordCamp Bengaluru 2026, and I will not be in the room. Why a well-wisher does not need a seat, and how we help from home.
Reality over perception.
Sixteen years of making websites, most of them on WordPress. Launch day is the easy part. I care about year five, when the site still has to do its job.
Through ShifteQ, my web agency in Mumbai, I design, build and maintain WordPress sites for businesses that depend on them. I fix causes, not symptoms, and I’ll tell you when the cheaper, plainer option is the right one.
The rest of my week goes to domains, finding the right name for people or selling one, and to WordPress itself: a few hours of fixes and translations for the software that gave me a living.
Home is Mumbra, on the edge of Mumbai. Off work you’ll find me on the bike with friends, or daydreaming about the next thing to build.

“Twelve years of work and I still send him my clients.”
“For two years Kamran has handled our site personally. Fast responses, real optimization work, and ideas we did not ask for that still moved the needle.”
Hospital, blood bank and ambulance contacts for Mumbra, in one place.
mumbraindex.comSix hours of my week go to WordPress itself: four pledged through ShifteQ’s Five for the Future commitment, two of my own.
My fixes have landed in WordPress core. I’m on the Hosting Team, and I contribute Hindi translations and fixes for bugs that affect Indian languages.

What a hacked WordPress store costs, why the clock starts years before the break-in, and the hours nobody budgets for. From the person who got the call.
Fourteen years of client websites, and no website of my own. Why experts neglect themselves, what it quietly cost me, and what finally ended the wait.
What a premium domain does, what it does not do, and why the number on the listing is the smallest part of the bill. From someone who sells them.
